Amen is a Hebrew word which means “it’s true.” So that when you conclude a prayer by saying “amen,” it is as if you were saying: “Lord, all that I have been saying is true, and I believe it with all my heart.”
The resurrection of Christ happened on Easter Sunday. That is why we gather on Sundays to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ during the Holy Mass. For the Church, Sunday is the first day of the week.
When the priest or the deacon presents the Holy Gospel, we answer “Glory be to God” and we make the sign of the cross three times. We first cross our forehead so that God’s word fills our mind. Then we cross our mouth so that we may repeat God’s word. Finally, we cross our heart so that the Gospel may remain in it forever. |
